Squash Equipment

Squash rewards fitness and precision far more than raw power, and the gear reflects that. Light frames, a ball that has to be warmed up before it does much of anything, and shoes with a non marking sole. This is everything you need to play, from a first racquet through to competition standard balls.

Squash Racquets

Squash racquets are long and light, typically between 110g and 145g, with a small head. Lighter frames are quicker through the ball and easier to manoeuvre in the front court. Slightly heavier frames give more stability and more power on the drive. Head heavy balance adds power, head light adds control, and even balance is the safe place to start.

Choosing the Right Ball

The coloured dot tells you the speed and bounce. Double yellow is the slowest with the least bounce and is the competition standard. Single yellow is a touch faster. Red and blue bounce more and warm up quicker, which makes them far more playable for beginners and on cold courts. Starting on a double yellow is the most common reason new players decide they are bad at squash.
