Description
Rush Pro 4.5 Clay Men's Tennis Shoes
The Infrared colorway of the Rush Pro 4.5 Clay is the clay-court build of Wilson's most hard-wearing court shoe, in a red that stays looking clean on red clay longer than a white shoe will. The durability features carry over from the standard 4.5: a bigger integrated medial mudguard and a thicker lateral drag pad cut to the shape of the foot.
A clay shoe has to allow a slide and then arrest it, and it has to keep grit out of the upper for two hours. Getting that means adding material low on the shoe, which adds weight. This is not a light shoe, and it is not meant to be; it is meant to still be intact at the end of a clay season.
Key Features
- Set up for clay court surfaces rather than being a general all-court model.
- Graded mesh upper with wider openings at the front for air and a denser weave at the heel for hold.
- Larger integrated medial mudguard shielding the inside edge from abrasion during slides.
- Thickened lateral drag pad, contoured to the foot, for players who scrub through the outer edge.
- Energy Cell EVA in the forefoot to soften landings and help push you back into the court.
- Rubber outsole and textile lining through the build.
- Support for movement in all directions, which is what clay footwork demands.
- Infrared colorway that disguises red clay dust.
Specifications
- Upper: Textile / Synthetic
- Lining: Textile
- Outsole: Rubber
- Court Surface: Clay
- Sport: Tennis
- Gender: Men
- Colorway: Infrared/Infrared
Who It's For
- Players spending most of their season on red clay or har-tru.
- Sliders who need the shoe to stop them at the end of the slide, not during it.
- Players who wear the inside edge out where clay grinds against the upper.
- Anyone who wants a shoe that still looks presentable after a dusty match.
- Wide-covering baseliners who load the outer edge point after point.
Why Buy This Shoe
Weigh this against the standard Rush Pro 4.5. Occasional clay play does not justify a second pair, and the standard model handles mixed surfaces. A full clay season does justify it, and the Infrared colorway is the practical choice if the dust at your club is red.
The size run here starts at 11 US, so smaller feet are not covered by this colorway and should look at the Navy Clay or the standard 4.5. Players prioritizing a light, fast shoe over longevity should look elsewhere in the range.
