Rush Pro 4.5 Men's Tennis Shoes

The Rush Pro 4.5 is the durability-led step on from the 4.0, and the clearest change is underfoot on the outside edge: the lateral drag pad is bigger and thicker, and it is cut to follow the shape of the foot rather than sitting as a flat patch. The upper is engineered mesh with the weave graded along its length, open at the front and tighter at the back.

What it gives up is weight. A larger medial mudguard, more rubber on the drag zone and a reinforced heel are all material, so this is a heavier shoe than a minimal speed model. In return the parts that normally fail first on a club player's shoe, the toe drag area and the inside edge, are the parts that have been built up.

Key Features

  • Graded mesh upper with larger openings toward the toes for airflow and a denser weave at the rear for hold.
  • Integrated medial mudguard, larger than the previous generation, protecting the inside edge where serves and slides scrape.
  • Thickened lateral drag pad, shaped to the foot's outline, aimed squarely at players who wear through the outer edge.
  • Energy Cell EVA under the forefoot to absorb the landing and push back as you recover.
  • Rubber outsole that works across surfaces instead of being tuned to one court type.
  • Textile lining through the interior.
  • Support built for movement in every direction, not just forward travel.

Specifications

  • Upper: Textile / Synthetic
  • Lining: Textile
  • Outsole: Rubber
  • Sport: Tennis
  • Gender: Men
  • Colorway: Black/Infrared

Who It's For

  • Club players who go through a pair of shoes a season at the toe or outer edge.
  • Baseliners who cover ground sideways and want the shoe to hold its shape under that load.
  • Players who would rather carry a little more weight than replace shoes twice a year.
  • Anyone who plays on more than one surface and does not want a court-specific outsole.
  • Players who need a dark colorway for clubs where white soles mark the floor less of an issue than showing dirt.

Why Buy This Shoe

This sits against two things: lightweight speed shoes, which feel quicker for a month and then show daylight through the toe, and heavier stability models that ask you to break them in. The 4.5 is the middle option, bought mainly for how long it lasts on abrasive hard courts.

If you play almost entirely on clay, the Rush Pro 4.5 Clay is the version to look at instead. If your priority is the lightest possible shoe for a fast first step, and you accept replacing shoes more often, this is more shoe than you want.
