What equipment do I need to start playing padel?

A padel racket and padel balls are the essentials. Padel rackets are solid with no strings and have holes through the face. Padel balls look like tennis balls but run at a slightly lower pressure. Court shoes with a herringbone sole help on the artificial grass surface most padel courts use.

What is the difference between padel and pickleball equipment?

They are different sports and the gear is not interchangeable. Padel rackets are thicker, heavier and perforated, and are used with a pressurised ball on an enclosed court. Pickleball paddles are flat, lighter and solid faced, and are used with a plastic ball. We stock both.

How do I choose a padel racket shape?

Round rackets put the sweet spot in the centre of the face and are the most forgiving, which suits beginners. Diamond rackets move the sweet spot higher for more power and suit advanced attacking players. Teardrop shapes sit between the two and are a good all round choice.
